“Go Go Donutticorn!” is a screenprint I designed for my sister, and it’s my first proper screenprint that was printed at Print Club London.
"Donutticorn" stands for Donut Unicorn, incase you haven't guessed it! It was inspired by my sister’s love for sweet treats, desserts, and pretty things. And of course I have only one sister, so naturally she is my unicorn :D
This is the first in my series of “My journey”. It tells a tale of my journey from my childhood migration to England all the way to becoming a working adult in the creative industry. The waves represent the challenges and the monsters represent all the friends and family members who knowingly or unknowingly became part of my journey.
‘Rise and Flourish’ is the third addition for my on going screenprint series “My journey,” continuing my contemplation on life.
The beautiful calligraphy is by my funny dad, conveys the message, ‘Plant the Seed in Spring , Reap the Fruit in Autumn.’ in chinese. This old wisdom somehow felt so fitting for my own personal journey since the Pandemic.
Navigating through this uncertain time has led me onto a new path, where I’ve been blessed to witness the fruits of my past efforts as if the universe has been guiding me all along.
“Celebration Dance“ is the second limited edition screen print in my series of “My Journey”.
This artwork continues the storyline I started in the first one of the series, “Winter Mon Mon” from 2018, where cute little monsters embark on a journey across a dark, expansive ocean and eventually finding new friends and celebrate!
The friends celebrate like there is no tomorrow because today only happens once and they love to make the most of it.
I love how happy, warm this piece and I hope you feel the same!
Over the years, I have found myself increasingly drawn to expressing creativity through Ink, using a physical brush and physical ink!
There’s something compelling about the undivided focus it demands and the recognition that, as a mere human, my work willl never be flawness. But I am excited to explore further of my craft in the realm of ink!
Did you know that each dolphin has a unique whistle ? And they can recognise each other using it.
“Two Lost Friends” was inspired by this. It’s also about two people who may sound so different from either side of the ocean but still understand each other and hear each other.
Millie and Lou is an original preschool animated series created by myself (Mandy Wong) and my other half Rory Cooke.
This was also my first Art Directing experience where I also share the Showrunner role with Rory. I also concepted all the characters for the series :)
Millie and Lou is an enchanting comedy adventure about two friends meeting and making friends with different monsters inspired by different folklore characters from around the world. The show celebrate the idea of taking time to find common ground with others no matter who you are and where you come from.
Our show was commissioned by Youtube Originals, Google, produced by Blue Zoo Animation Studio, launched March 2022. For our first season we have 15 episodes of 11 minutes.
I love exploring new medium! Every now and then I will play with watercolour and Acryla Gouache with special ink like metallic or with pearly iridenscent effect.
This set of paintings originated during my annual family Cookie holiday in North Devon. Being with my family in England often evokes memories of my family back in Hong Kong.
As a child, I lived in the suburb surrounded by farms, where we often spotted tadpoles swimming in the gaps between the crops. However, over time, the farmlands were replaced by cold, concrete buildings. My memory of that is pretty faint but I imagined they looked something like this.
